Hi Friend, Leadership in the North Carolina Central University National Alumni Association (NCCUAA) is both an honor and a responsibility. Our alumni leaders help strengthen the connection between graduates and the university while opening doors for future generations of Eagles. Through service in the NCCUAA, alumni give back to the institution that shaped us and work together to support students, engage fellow alumni, and carry forward the proud legacy of NCCU. The Nominations Committee is pleased to announce the official elections process and timeline for the 2026 NCCUAA Officer Elections. We encourage all eligible members to take part in this important process by nominating qualified candidates, accepting a nomination, and participating in the election itself. NOMINATIONS OPEN Special NCCUAA Meeting Saturday, March 21, 2026 | 10:00 AM EST (Zoom Information will be sent seperately) Nominations will open from the floor during the Special NCCUAA Nominations Meeting. Eligible members may nominate themselves or be nominated by another eligible member. To nominate a candidate, a member must be financial with the NCCU Alumni association at the time of the meeting. Nominees do not have to be present during the meeting to be nominated. Following the close of floor nominations, the nominations period will open via email. Nominations will be taken for the following elected positions:
- President
- Vice-President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
EMAIL NOMINATIONS CLOSE Friday, March 28, 2026 | 11:59 PM EST An email will be sent to the general membership with nomination instructions following the virutal nominations meeting. Eligible members may self-nominate or be nominated by another eligible member. Candidate eligibility will be verified after nominations close and confirmed by the Nominations Committee. CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS All nominees must be financial members of the NCCU Alumni Association by March 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST in order to be considered eligible. CANDIDATE CONFIRMATION PERIOD Response Deadline: April 3, 2026 | 11:59 PM EST All nominees will be notified of their nomination and given the option to accept or decline. Those who accept must submit the required materials by this deadline, including: • Headshot • Candidate Bio • Personal Statement and answers to prepared questions Candidates who do not formally accept their nomination and submit required materials by April 3 will be removed from consideration. OFFICIAL SLATE OF NOMINEES PRESENTED April 15, 2026 The verified slate of candidates will be presented to the NCCUAA membership via official NCCUAA communication channels. BALLOT REQUEST PERIOD BEGINS April 15, 2026 Members who require paper ballots may begin submitting requests starting April 15. Instructions for requesting paper ballots will be provided through official NCCUAA communication channels. VOTER ELIGIBILITY DEADLINE To participate in the election vote, members must be financial with the NCCU Alumni Association by April 15th, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST. ELECTION PERIOD May 1 – May 31, 2026 Voting will take place during this period. All ballots must be received by May 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST to be counted. The mailing of paper ballots shall commence the week of April 20th. Marked paper ballots shall be returned to the Durham County Board of Elections office with a postmark no later than May 31, 2026. BALLOT COUNTING AND RESULTS - June 10th-15th The Nominations Committee will tabulate and present the results to candidates and the parliamentarian, and an announcement to the membership via email will follow. A full report from the Nominations Committee will also be presented during the NCCU Alumni Weekend business meeting in June. We encourage every eligible member to participate fully in this important process as we continue to move forward together in unity, transparency, and service to our beloved university.
