π About Alumna Jacqueline Beatty-Smith
Jacqueline βJacqueβ Beatty-Smith was born in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, and raised in Tomahawk, North Carolina, by her loving parents, Larry Nick and Nell Beatty. She is married to Alumnus Richard D. Smith, an Alumni Ambassador and current Vice President of the National HBCU Alumni Association Foundation. He is also a former executive at Adsystech Incorporated.
A proud graduate of North Carolina Central University, Class of 1979, Alumna Beatty-Smith has exemplified the true spirit of an Eagle Alumni Ambassador. She has served as a tireless advocate for NCCU, consistently wearing her maroon and gray and representing our institution with grace, professionalism, and prideβalways echoing the timeless motto of our founder, Dr. James E. Shepard: βTruth & Service.β
Through her involvement in student career counseling, recruitment, retention, and professional development, she has mentored and empowered generations of Eagles. Her commitment continues through the Student Engagement, Employment and Mentoring (SEEM) and Civic Engagement and Advocacy Committee (CEAC) at both the National and local chapter levels.
Together with her husband, she established the Richard and Jacqueline Smith Endowment and the Beatty-Daye-Smith Family Education Endowment, helping alleviate tuition burdens for deserving students and expanding access to higher education.
