Hi Friend,

This month, a lot of exciting things happened at NCCU, from installing the 13th NCCU Chancellor to being featured in Black Enterprise Magazine. In May, our future Eagles will depart the "sloping hills and verdant green" and demonstrate to the world what "Truth & Service" is all about. If you have any important events that you would like posted to the NCCU Alumni Association website, please send to info@nccualumni.org. Check out our new partner and vendor Raleigh Tees in the NCCU Benefits and Discounts section below.

We are excited to share with you the installation ceremony for NCCU Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon. The installation ceremony can be viewed here https://issuu.com/nccentraluniv/docs/chancellor_dixon_inauguration_2025 and via YouTube here

The journey to graduation is rarely a straight path. Meet a few members of NCCU’s class of 2025 who have inspiring stories to share:

  • Jordan Baccus overcame multiple strokes, aphasia and epilepsy to graduate with honors in public health education. She volunteered more than 300 hours, interned with the Epilepsy Foundation and will begin the Master of Public Health program at East Carolina University in fall 2025.

  • Keylonnie Boatwright combined her love for fashion, film and literature to launch a boutique business while earning her English degree. She plans to pursue a master’s in creative writing with a focus on screenwriting. Read her story here.
  • Maeva Hassani, a newly naturalized U.S. citizen, turned her journey from Paris to rural North Carolina into a mission for justice. She will join Vega Law Firm after graduating with her law degree.

  • Nicole Martin, who spent her early years in the Philippines before continuing her education in North Carolina, has emerged as a top nursing student at just 19. You are invited to our Centennial Weekend which will be held on the NCCU campus on June 27-29, 2025. This milestone weekend will be commemorated with panel discussions, tours of the campus, and wreath laying at the graves of Dr. Shepard and Richard L. McDougald. In addition, to commemorate this occasion, we will host the annual meeting, a day of service, a documentary screening of the life and work of former NCCU Alumni Association President Sen. H. M. "Mickey" Michaux, Jr., and the Awards Dinner. Alumna Gina Pettis - Dean will serve as Chair of the yearlong events.

Those alumni who are making donations through the Fidelity Charitable organization should be certain to select the correct EIN when making a donation either to NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, INC. (NCCUAA) or NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION, INC.(NCCUF).

When donation checks are sent and payable to the NCCUAA from the Fidelity Charitable organization but belong to the NCCUF it creates a third-party transaction. We have been advised to return the check(s) to secure the correct payee. Therefore, if you are giving to any group at NCCU, please use the EIN for the NCCUF so that you may receive the proper credit at the NCCUF. If you are giving to the NCCUAA, please use the EIN for the NCCUAA so that you may receive the proper credit.

You may choose the correct EIN at the Secretary of State website North Carolina Secretary of State's Office or contact the recipient of the gift.
